How many times today have we heard the words "what did he say" The short answer is Josh is going to have surgery. We don't know if it will be Thursday or Friday. We don't know the outcome. We don't know when we are going home.
This is what we do know. We know Josh has good sight in both eyes (just not focusing on the same thing!) We know we are in good hands (the oculoplastic surgeon). We know that God is God. We know we live in a broken world and pain and suffering are part of it. It did not start with me or Josh but in Genesis and it is not going away until Christ's return. It is about Jesus. The whole thing is not about me and what I might learn or about how I might grow as a person or how I might show compassion to Josh at this time. All good things but very selfish things. It is about Jesus. Our hope is not in our comfort or perfect life but rather in our salvation which comes from Jesus by the power of the Holy Sprit from the foreknowledge of God the Father. We spend our energy trying to avoid suffering for ourselves and our family. Rather, we should be learning to sufferr well. Like Paul. Or Peter (who was crucified upside down because he said he wasn't worthy to be crucified right side up like Jesus). Or Jesus, our ultimate example of how to suffer.
